Set amongst dense bushland with stunning views to Conondale, this Green Smart home uses 100% solar power.  Water is provided solely by rainwater collection and surface storm water from the driveway and tank overflows are diverted to the gardens.

Sewage is treated on-site with a local Biolytix system and disperses treated waste to subsurface irrigation for the lawns and gardens.

Indoors, the home maximises passive solar design principles with strategically placed louvers to provide cross ventilation and catch breezes from any direction.

The main living area features high ceilings, which ensures an abundance of light and insulation throughout all ceilings, walls and floors ensures the home requires no extra energy to maintain year-round climate control.

Set within a 120 hectare working dairy, The Cosmic Cow Shed was constructed as a private residence for a young family.

As a celebration of local farm buildings, The Cosmic Shed has been found confronting by many who arrive looking for a conventional house.

The residence is built within one main shed and a series of annexes which create an elongated U-shape.

The building layout and raised central skillion roof, allows for substantial cross-ventilation in summer and solar penetration in winter.
